Kim Demetreu
Kim is a corporate trainer, personal coach, public speaker, technology professional, mom, grandma, and wife. Her personal mission is to inspire and empower people to become the best versions of themselves. The Career Kickstart Bootcamp ideas was created as a collaboration with many local community members as a way to give back to this amazing island she now calls home.
Her career began as an executive assistant while she was a single mom, who transformed herself from a waitress into a successful leader, speaker, consultant, coach, trainer, and mentor in the technology industry over the last 25 years. Her self-development journey led her to increase her pay by $100,000...and it wasn't by learning more technology!
Kim will share the principles of success she has learned that has led to her blessed blissful life in love, life, work, and community in the technology world.
She is grateful for the opportunity to share her expertise with students, while learning from a local legend that has so many lessons of her own to share! She is HONORED that Iwalani Tseu will be sharing her amazing stories of strength and empowerment with students throughout the session.

Iwalani Evelyn Rae Walsh Wahinekapu Tseu
Kumu Hula ‘Iwalani Wahinekapu Walsh Tseu, a cultural pioneer and fashion icon, is the Executive Director of Hui’Iwa Academy and founder of ‘Iwalani School of Dance Japan and China. A highly respected cultural specialist and advisor, ‘Iwalani has traveled to over 40 countries perpetuating and promoting the Hawaiian arts through cultural music, dance and expression. ‘Iwalani has been a judge for prestigious Hawaii Beauty Pageants and competitions including the Queen Liliuokalani Hula Competition and Ia ‘Oe Ka La and is one of Hawaii’s most sought talent coach. She has been featured in many magazines, commercials and inside cover story for her continued community work through the ‘Iwalani Foundation and the Pu’uhonua O Honouliuli, a healing sanctuary for women afflicted with Breast Cancer. An excellent keynote speaker for many organizations alike, ‘Iwalani is known for her innovative, daring and creative ideas. Having been in the entertainment industry for over 50 years, ‘Iwalani provides charitable services as a mentor and life coach for many young adults. One of Hawaii’s premier entertainers, ‘Iwalani continues promoting and encouraging Hawaii’s youth with her program focusing on inner beauty, strength, and development through teachings of values, protocol and etiquette.
Iwalani has 3 bronze statues at the Aloha Tower Marketplace as the Cultural Boat Days Advisor. ‘Iwalani is also known as Hawaii’s Ambassador of Hula and Aloha and is a Living Treasure of Hawaii. Currently, ‘Iwalani is developing a Healing Garden in Honouliuli, Ewa, called “Pu’uhonua O Honouliuli.” She is also writing a book on Health & Wellness and Breast Cancer Awareness called “Magnificent Women of Hawaii.”

Thousands of technology jobs are coming to the Pacific Islands. We can either develop the skills in the people that live in there, or companies will be forced to look to outside the community to bring people here to fill them. The pandemic has taught us that our community needs more than the tourism industry to continue to thrive through difficult times.
The Career Kickstart Bootcamp program was created to address many issues, including the need to
- empower more women into technology leadership roles
- develop a sustainable pipeline of technical talent through local workforce development efforts that are focused on college-level students
- address the fact that fewer students from Hawai'i are entering post-secondary education, and many go out of state
- help our youth learn valuable life skills and introduce them to career opportunities
- show our youth that the community supports them
We believe the fresh perspective of the Youth in Hawai'i looking at technology in completely new ways, will bring exciting innovations!

Our youth today are facing unprecedented challenges with the pandemic, politics, and the economy. They are our future and we want to provide them with skills and tools they can use to define what success looks like for them, create a life they want to live, and be able to flourish in our community.
A key to success is understanding our current youth and their challenges to pursuing careers and post-secondary education. A whitepaper created for the Harold K.L. Foundation highlights many of our youth's challenges and identifies the following opportunities to address in the "Youth Voice Hawai'i" report: 1 - Mental Health and Student Well Being through the Personal and Professional Development section of the Career Kickstart Bootcamp), and 2 - Information and Exposure to Pathways through talking story with local guest speakers and mentors that are Subject Matter Experts. More importantly, this program will help positively shape the future of young women in the Pacific Islands by helping them learn emotional intelligence and communications skills that will allow them to thrive in life and in any career they choose.
In addition to exploring career paths they may not have previously known about or had the confidence to attempt, we have post-secondary education partners and job placement partners that will help our students understand their options for pursuing careers with scholarships and financial aid.
